Fort Lauderdale is
a
city (incorporated
place) located in Broward County, FL on the east coast of Florida. The City got it's name from
Major William Lauderdale who built the first fort at the rivers mouth in
1838 during the Seminole Indian wars. Fort Lauderdale was incorporated
in 1911 with only 175 residents.
Population: 152,397 (US Census 2000).
