Florida Preschools & Child Care

The state of Florida provides social services to children, families, and child care providers. It was one of the first states in the country to offer free pre-kindergarten for all 4-year-olds. While this is a voluntary program, an astounding 80% of all Florida 4 years-olds attend VPK. On the political side, Florida has seen an increased effort among its citizens to make educating the youth of high importance. This effort has culminated into The Children’s Movement of Florida, which is a citizen-led movement created to educate political figures, businesses, civic leaders, and parents about the urgent need to make the well-being and education of the children a high priority. To support low incomes families needing childcare assistance, Florida has implemented a school readiness program.
