“Here you leave today and enter the world of yesterday, tomorrow and fantasy”
On October 1, 1971 Disney’s Magic Kingdom opened its gates to the world to offer 23 attractions in 6 unique lands. Entering Magic Kingdom is intended to be similar to watching the opening for a movie. Walking past the gates, there are posters for some of the lands and attractions; they are previews of what’s to come! And you won’t forget to grab your popcorn because it is the very first cart on your way into the park. Now, you can’t see it yet, but the star is just around the corner. As you round Town Square and head down Main Street U.S.A. (don’t forget to look at the businesses and names on the windows because these are the opening credits), Cinderella Castle sits front and center, ready for her closeup. With constant innovation and Imagineering, Magic Kingdom is constantly evolving. It is Disney’s most family friendly park with attractions for all ages. The park hosted 20.49 million visitors in 2015, making it the most visited theme park in the world for the 10th consecutive year as well as the most visited theme park in North America for at least the past 15 years.
