City of Monticello, Florida

Monticello is a city in Jefferson County, Florida. Home to Indian mounds and many historic buildings the city is known for its rich history. Even the naming of Monticello has historical context as it was named after Thomas Jefferson’s county estate. Visitors are often impressed that most of Monticello historical buildings are still functioning today, such as the 19th century Perkins Opera House. Perkins Block was a department store opened in 1890 with an opera house on the top floor. Today the opera house has been renovated and serves as a home for the performing arts in Monticello area.

Monticello Vineyards and Winery is a small Florida farm with 50+ acres of USDA organic farm and vineyards. There are over 18 different kinds of muscadine grapes being grown on site.
