Bach Festival Society
Founded in 1935, the Bach Festival Society started as a celebration and commemoration of Johann Sebastian Bach as a way to honor his own music as well as his impact on music to come. It currently features over 180 volunteer singers and 50 professional orchestra members. The Bach Festival Society is proud to be the third-oldest continuously operating Bach Festival in the U.S. and the longest-running performing arts organization in Central Florida.
The Bach Festival Society has offered in-school educational programs, high school festivals, community concerts, and many other outreach events in the Central Florida community including two community choirs. Members of the society must audition to be involved and must re-audition every two years. Many of the singers and orchestra members work as music professionals outside of the society, often as music teachers for various universities.
