Golden Gate Community Park
The Golden Gate Community Center lies in the heart of Collier County and features its only BMX bicycle track. Wheels Skate BMX park features a National Bicycle League bmx sanctioned track and plays host to dozens of competitions each year. Also offered at Golden Gate CC is a bandshell for musical performances, fully lit playground, gymnasium, game room, nine meeting rooms and the Collier County Community Garden. The community garden was installed to promote healthier living where residents can plant fruits, vegetables, and herbs while being provided the land and tools needed to make a successful harvest.
The beaches of Marco Island showcase lush, Floridian seaside habitats for the plants and animals in the area, while providing the beautiful, sunbathing vistas that make south Florida Famous. South Marco beach showcases sabal palms as well as amenities for overnight stays, so you can visit Tigertail beach, the main draw of the island. Named “one of the best all-around birding locations in southwest Florida,” in the Great Florida Birding Trail guide, Tigertail offers 32 acres of nesting areas for wintering and nesting shorebirds. From the Sand Dollar Spit, take in the sunset over the Gulf of Mexico. The Sand Dollar Spit, also known as the Big Marco Pass Critical Wildlife Area, is separated from Tigertail Beach Park by a tidal lagoon which hosts an abundant array of sealife. Horseshoe Crabs, Needlefish, Florida Fighting Conchs and more reside in the lagoon and are great subjects for viewing while putting your toes in the sand. Cabanas, water trikes, a butterfly garden, and many other features are offered at Tigertail Beach. Come to Marco Island to visit them all for a great getaway.
