From Humble Beginnings
In October of 2008, Charlie Wilson wanted to share her passion for health and nutrition with those around her. With limited options for organic food in the Key West community she opened Date and Thyme, a takeout café in an old gas station attached to a laundromat. She worked hard to insure her ingredients were fresh and organic. Her commitment to freshness meant driving to Key Largo every week for two years with a UHAUL since the delivery truck would not drive to Key West. Opening her café was not enough for Charlie, so she decided to branch out and start a farmer’s market outside with fresh, local produce. In 2012, the laundromat went out of business, and she decided to take the opportunity to expand her café and small farmer’s market. With a dedicated staff and the support of her community she was able to continue the growth of the only organic food option in Key West.
Focused on Community Growth
With the best ingredients and a staff passionate about a holistic, sustainable life, Charlie is now focused on bringing more awareness to what Date and Thyme stands for in the community. She has been dedicated to helping those around her find a love for health and nutrition for ten years, and she only wants to see that love grow. She is very fond of her small town, free spirited community and has even established a few regulars over the years. She loves meeting new people and hearing their stories. Date and Thyme has options for everyone, from the regular orders for her everyday customers to the candy for the younger kids who visit with their parents.
What's on the Menu?
Date and Thyme offers a variety of options on their menu, from your breakfast wraps to your organic coffee bar. Their lunch menu offers delicious bowls and salads, and their smoothies will satisfy any time of the day. They have a juice cleanse deal to jump start your health journey and a kid’s menu to introduce your little one to a healthier lifestyle. There is also a market to supply you with all your organic cooking needs. As well as the supplements and body care you need to feel your best.
Date and Thyme for Everything
One of the most interesting topics that I had the pleasure of discussing with Charlie was where she got the name for her business. “There is a date and time in our lives that we begin to think our old ways of thinking, being, and eating no longer serve us.” With that mind set, Charlie wanted to start a business that focused on changing one’s mind, body, and spirit. Her staff are all on a journey themselves and they love helping others find an exciting, sustainable lifestyle. Date and Thyme is a place for growth and development for everyone.
