Hendry County offers a wide number of options for down to earth entertainment. The Big Cypress Indian Reservation is host to historic museums and recreation, a large number of festivals offer annual events of many varieties, and the town of Clewiston is host to a large number of parks and sport activities. Look out for the Hendry Athletic Complex as well.

Big Cypress Indian Reservation

One of six major reservations for the Seminole Indian Tribe, Big Cypress serves as a destination whose role is to connect visitors with Florida’s native roots. The Ah-Tah-Thi-ki is a great place to witness priceless artifacts and equally valuable stories about this historic location. Take a tour of the reservation by foot, boat, or even by wheel. Audubon Society birding trips are also a great way to see the winged residents of the area.

Hendry Sports Complex and Other Sports Activities

The Hendry Sports Complex that is being built in LaBelle, Florida will be a baseball player's dream. There will be five fields for baseball in total and one multi-use field. Restroom facilities will also be available once the complex is built. 

Hendry also hosts 59 special Olympics athletics. The program caters to six different sports for athletes youth and adult 8 years or older.

Festivals

Another great way to get out doors with your family is the various festival which are celebrated every year in Hendry county. In February, the Swamp Cabbage Festival in LaBelle plays host to a number or exciting events. Run in its annual 5k, watch the car show, rodeo, fishing tournament, or shop at one of many vendors selling their wares. Clewiston plays host to the Sugar Festival in March. A great live music event, a number of bands play the festival annually. In between sets, stop by a crafts vendor for unique, handmade items and a bite to eat at one of the food vendors. This festival also has its own 5k and a golf tournament as well.

Clewiston

Also known as “America’s sweetest town,” Clewiston plays host to a large number of recreational parks featuring playgrounds. Trinidad Park, Water Spray Park, Candy Cane Park, and many others offer a safe and fun place for children to run around and climb. Adult and youth sports activities are also widely available. For adults basketball, baseball, and softball leagues are in place year round. For children soccer, basketball, baseball, softball, T-ball, and weeball are all available. Visitors and residents of Clewiston will find a great number of recreational opportunities around this great town.
