Hillsborough County is located in Central West Florida bordering the Gulf of Mexico and Tampa Bay and Pinellas, Polk, Manatee and Pasco Counties. 

Hillsborough County was established in 1834 and named for Wills Hills, the Earl of Hillsborough.

One of Florida's best parks for dynamic biking trails is the Alafia River State Park. The park features 17 miles of bike trails that cover some of the highest elevation changes found in Florida. The park also offers at least 20 miles of trails for hikers and equestrians through pine flat wood, and with the abundance with wildlife it is also great for bird watching. The giant park is also home to a campground, playgrounds, opportunities for canoeing and fishing, and much more.

Amalie Arena is located in downtown Channelside Tampa, Florida and is home to the Tampa Bay Lightning NHL team and the Tampa Bay Storm Arena Football team. The arena, originally named the Ice Palace and most recently the Tampa Bay Times Forum, hosts other events, basketball, and concerts. . 

What is essentially a series of islands in the South Eastern region of Tampa Bay, Cockroach Bay Preserve State Park does not actually have cockroaches on the property. What early Spanish explorers called "cockroaches" were nothing more than horseshoe crabs, and at one point, there was an abundance of these little sea critters. While the islands are 617 acres, about 500 of those acres are mangrove swamp, which makes it the perfect place for fisherman and/or birdwatchers. Keep in mind the islands are only accessible by watercraft so there are no actual facilities on them. In two small creeks along the shores, canoeing and kayaking is allowed. 

Egmont Key is a Florida State Park located in the Gulf of Mexico at the mouth of Tampa Bay. The park is primarily a wildlife refuge, and is accessible only by boat or ferry. Nature enthusiasts will appreciate the views and abundance of wildlife that the park has to offer. There are multiple trails and unique historical sites here, including the ruins of Fort Dade: a 19th century era fort. Also present is a manned lighthouse that has stood since 1858. The remote nature of Egmont Key makes for a perfect getaway on its secluded beaches. However, this also means that there are no stores or drinking water to be found here. Come prepared, and enjoy a slice of the natural beauty that Florida has to offer!

Florida State Fairgrounds Complex, located in Tampa, Florida, includes the Expo Hall, Entertainment Hall, Special Events Center, Florida Center and Botanical Gardens, Pavillion and Waterfront Cafe as well as other outdoor locations that include an Equestrian Center. The grounds are used throughout the year for a variety of events, especially for different festivals and live music performances. Both big names and smaller named musicians have made a showing here so make sure to keep up to date with the events that are hosted here. You don't want to miss out on something fun and/or exciting that's right around the corner from you!

Fort Foster State Historic site was originally a fort occupied by Col. William S. Foster and some 430 men. Today, the park can be enjoyed with a re-enactment of the conflict between the Seminole Nation and the U.S. military during the Second Seminole War. Park staff and re-enactors will be sure to provide families with a welcome trip into the history that sits in the backyard of Hillsborough River State Park with two living history events, featured annually in January and December: Fort Foster Rendezvous and the Candlelight Experience at Fort Foster.

Hillsborough County School District is a school district headquartered in Tampa, Florida. It is the third largest school district in Florida and the 8th largest in the United States. The district is famously known for having received recognition for being awarded 100 million dollar grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

This is a beautiful state park near the downtown Tampa area. There are over seven miles of natural trails to enjoy and it's also a great place to go for a swim on a hot day. Hillsborough River State Park is also home to Fort Foster State Historic Site, where they do occasional living-history demonstrations of life at Fort Foster. There are two occasions throughout the year: Fort Foster Rendezvous in January and the Candlelight Experience at Fort Foster in December. Both events are historical and neat to view, so be sure to check it out if you're close enough. They also tell you all about the fort and the part it played in the Second Seminole War. 

Little Manatee River State Park is known for having some of the cleanest water in Florida. Visitors can camp on site, horseback ride, fish, picnic, hike, and more. An amphitheater, shower station, playground, and laundry station are some of the amenities available at the park.

MacDill Air Force Base is a US Air Force base in Tampa, FL. It is home to many commands of military units from all branches of the military including the U.S. Central Command, U.S. Special Operations Command, and the 927th Air Refueling Wing. 

Raymond James Stadium is home to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the University of South Florida football, Outback Bowl and Monster Jam. Located in Downtown Tampa Bay, and hosts to large concerts and other events and festivals. 

The Florida Aquarium is located on the waterfront in downtown Tampa whose mission is to entertain, educate and inspire stewardship about our natural environment. One of the top Aquariums in the country it is a favorite of locals and tourists alike. The Florida Aquarium has more than 20,000 animals including sharks, alligators, seahorses and more with hands on animal encounters, outdoor water adventure zone and even take a catamaran dolphin cruise! 

Located in bustling Tampa, Florida, the historic Ybor City Museum State Park boasts that it is the "Cigar Capital of the world." Learn about the history behind Ybor City and the influence that the cigar industry and Latin culture had on its development by taking a tour of the Ybor City Museum. Follow that with an immersive walkthrough of the historic block and experience the still-standing houses of the immigrants and cigar workers of the early twentieth century.

The garden, located next to the museum, is not only a beautiful spot to enjoy a quiet moment of history and a picnic, but it's also a prime location for weddings, reunions, or other special events. This Mediterranean style garden offers a quaint backdrop including a fountain, lampposts, and various statues and can be rented for special events. From there, you can take a stroll around the rest of Ybor City, or continue your day by heading into Tampa, but be sure to make the Ybor City Museum State Park a must-see stop on your way.

This is a dog park that features two separate areas for larger and smaller dogs, picnic tables, a dog wash area, and a hitching post.

Port Tampa Bay on Central Florida's Gulf Coast, is largest of the Florida ports by tonnage and land and is a full service port for both cargo and cruise ships as well as other maritime activities including important shipbuilding and repair facilities. 

Pure Kitchen is an Organic and Vegan Grab'n Go with weekly meal delivery. Their menu varies from day to day and their prices are fairly low.

Rock Brothers Brewing is an Ybor City brewing company that specializes in recruiting some of the best musicians to play at their attached venue "The Attic." The company features a wide range of musical artists, brews its own craft beer, and are innovators in the realm of craft cocktails, creating some very unique drinks from unsual ingredients such as hop bitters.

There are two locations for the Tampa famous brewing company that has been around since 1995 in West Tampa. Located in the Centro Ybor Station and Westchase, Tampa Bay Brewing has proven to be one of the most influential brewing companies in Tampa.

The Tampa Theatre is one of America's most elaborate movie palaces. It was built in 1926 featuring a romantic Mediterranean style so people could enjoy a beautiful environment while they watched the latest silent film. Tampa Electric's Manatee Viewing Center includes an environmental education center, a habitat loop trail and a wildlife observation tower. This 50 foot high tower offers amazing views across Tampa Bay and is the perfect place to view the manatees in their natural habitat.

The Dinner Detective is a comedy mystery dinner show currently showing in 4 cities across Florida: Jacksonville, Miami, Tampa, and West Palm Beach. It shows in hotels in those cities, giving families a delicious meal as well as a mystery to solve in which they may became the lead suspect.

The Ritz Ybor is Tampa Bay's premier special event and concert venue since 2006. Its location makes it a great place to enjoy a show in beautiful downtown Tampa.

Bay Area Christian Homeschoolers (BACH) is a not for profit, volunteer, non-denominational Christian support group for homeschooling families mainly in Hillsborough and Pasco counties. We are Christian-based but not Christian-exclusive. Our purpose is to encourage our member families in their homeschooling efforts by providing fellowship, information, socialization and support. 
 

This group is designed to provide Catholic Homeschoolers in the Tampa Bay Area with the opportunity to participate together in group activities, exciting fieldtrips, educational experiences, developmental opportunities and service projects throughout the area. We are happy to welcome non-Catholics, but we do ask that all members respect the Catholic nature of this list. 

This group is specifically for Christian (all denominations) tweens and teens ages 10 and up. Fun, active group serving the greater Tampa area.

We are an open-minded homeschool group for the New Tampa and East Pasco Florida area. We mostly discuss homeschooling but are open to other topics that you might discuss amongst friends. 

CREATE is a social group for creative teens ages 14-18 ​hosting fun, artsy, and alternative events. CREATE welcomes teens with all creative interests and passions such as music, acting, writing, art, film, gaming, and more. We are a secular group and a safe, loving environment for ALL.

THINK is an inclusive group, open to all homeschooling families. Our mission is "to provide a secular environment for homeschool families to share educational resources and camaraderie and to encourage learning in its broadest sense".
