Miami-Dade County is located in Southeast Florida bordering the Atlantic Ocean and Monroe, Broward and Collier Counties.
Established in 1836 from a portion of St. Johns County and originally named "Dade" County named for Major Francis Longhorne Dade, U.S. Army Commander during the Second Seminole War. The name was changed in 1997 by the voters from Dade to Miami-Dade add the internationally recognized city of Miami.
It's safe to say this state park is unlike any other in Florida. Quite literally - this beach was ranked in the top 10 for the US. Just south of downtown Miami, Key Biscayne offers astounding beaches and beauty. The southern third of the island is strictly Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park. So not only is Florida's nature preserved from Miami sprawl, it offers a quick escape to a natural luxury, away from the concrete city.

It is the home base of the 482nd Fighter Wing (482 FW) of the Air Force Reserve Command’s Tenth Air Force (10AF). The 482 FW’s mission is, “Deploy Combat Ready Airmen to Combatant Commanders!”

Built where the old Orange Bowl use to be, the stadium has taken a Green approach to be environmentally friendly.
There’s a lot to do here at the Miami Seaquarium. While you can swim with the dolphins for 30 minutes, there are also touch pools, where visitors can put their hands into the water to touch the bamboo sharks, cleaner fish, and invertebrates. Oleta River State Park is located in 30 minutes from Downtown Miami. It is Florida's largest urban park, here you can enjoy a great deal of activities, there's something for everyone. Oleta River State Park has over 10 miles of mountain bike trails for those who are at an intermediate level. Other activities that Oleta River State Park offers include camping, paddling, fishing, hiking, picnicking, and swimming. Some of the amenities include cabins, beach, gardens, and picnic pavilions.
The Barnacle Historic State Park is a house that was built in 1891, which dates back to the times when the way to and from Miami was by boat. The house is located on the shore of Biscayne Bay, and it was home to a man named Ralph Middleton Munroe, who preserved the forest on the land. A visit to this park consists of a tour around the historic property, picnics on the lawn, setting up hammocks, walking one's dog, or just relaxing on the estate and watching the boats sail by.
The Coast Guard 7th District headquarters is located in downtown Miami, Florida. Per their official website, it is “responsible for Coast Guard activities throughout a 1.7 million square mile area including Puerto Rico, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and 34 foreign nations and territories.”
