Miami-Dade County

Miami-Dade County is located in Southeast Florida bordering the Atlantic Ocean and Monroe, Broward and Collier Counties. 

Established in 1836 from a portion of St. Johns County and originally named "Dade" County named for Major Francis Longhorne Dade, U.S. Army Commander during the Second Seminole War. The name was changed in 1997 by the voters from Dade to Miami-Dade add the internationally recognized city of Miami.

The American Airlines Arena is located on the waterfront in downtown Miami, Florida. It is home to the Miami Heat NBA basketball team and hosts large concerts and events. 

It's safe to say this state park is unlike any other in Florida. Quite literally - this beach was ranked in the top 10 for the US. Just south of downtown Miami, Key Biscayne offers astounding beaches and beauty. The southern third of the island is strictly Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park. Welcome to the country's largest subtropical wilderness! The biodiversity at the Everglades National Park is truly unfathomable and must be experienced first hand. It serves as home to many endangered species such as the American crocodile, manatee, American alligator, sea turtles, birds, Florida panther, and many types of plants. If you are eager to learn and experience the wildlife in a way that you will never forget, this is the place for you. They have ranger programs, tours, books, and many other activities to educate visitors on topics related to the different species and their environment. If you become an expert, you could even volunteer in aiding their conservation efforts. 

FIU Stadium is a college stadium home to Florida International University's Panthers football team. Located in Miami, Florida, and informally known as The Cage, the stadium has a seating capacity of 20,000. Also home to Miami FC soccer team and other events. 

The only water park within the City of Miami, offering four pools, two slide pools, one for toddlers, one for older children and adults, a recreation pool and a lazy river, all ages can come and cool off in the summer months. 

Hard Rock Stadium located in Miami Gardens, Florida is home to the Miami Dolphins NFL football team and the University of Miami Hurricanes football. Formerly known by 7 other names initially the Joe Robbie Stadium and most recently the Sun Life Stadium, the stadium hosts the Orange Bowl annually as well as large concerts, WrestleMania and numerous events. 5 Super Bowls, 2 World Series, 4 BCS National Championship Games, WrestleMania XXVIII are just a few of the past events hosted at the Hard Rock Stadium. 

Homestead Air Reserve Base is a U.S. Air Force Reserve base located northeast of the city of Homestead, Florida. It is the home base of the 482nd Fighter Wing (482 FW) of the Air Force Reserve Command’s Tenth Air Force (10AF). The 482 FW’s mission is, “Deploy Combat Ready Airmen to Combatant Commanders!” 

Marlins Park is a baseball park, home of the Miami Marlins, located in Miami, Florida. The stadium is a contemporary architecture featuring an abstract design, a retractable roof, Miami Deco Art, Fish Tanks, Swimming Pool, Nightclub and a true South Beach atmosphere. Built where the old Orange Bowl use to be, the stadium has taken a Green approach to be environmentally friendly.

The Miami Marlins are a franchise that has experienced their highs and lows. They have been able to win a few championships and have a brand new state of the art stadium.

There’s a lot to do here at the Miami Seaquarium. While you can swim with the dolphins for 30 minutes, there are also touch pools, where visitors can put their hands into the water to touch the bamboo sharks, cleaner fish, and invertebrates. It’s awesome being able to touch the animals and feel them kiss your fingers.

Miami-Dade County Public Schools has authority over 2,000 square miles of communities ranging from rural and suburban to urban cities are served by the Miami-Dade County School District. In terms of the number of schools in the area, Miami-Dade County consists of over 350 schools and serves over 300,000 students making it the fourth largest school district in the United States. The school district’s mission is to provide the highest quality education so that all students are empowered to lead productive and fulfilling lives as lifelong learners and responsible citizens.

Oleta River State Park is located in 30 minutes from Downtown Miami. It is Florida's largest urban park, here you can enjoy a great deal of activities, there's something for everyone. Oleta River State Park has over 10 miles of mountain bike trails for those who are at an intermediate level. Other activities that Oleta River State Park offers include camping, paddling, fishing, hiking, picnicking, and swimming. Some of the amenities include cabins, beach, gardens, and picnic pavilions.

The Barnacle Historic State Park is a house that was built in 1891, which dates back to the times when the way to and from Miami was by boat. The house is located on the shore of Biscayne Bay, and it was home to a man named Ralph Middleton Munroe, who preserved the forest on the land. A visit to this park consists of a tour around the historic property, picnics on the lawn, setting up hammocks, walking one's dog, or just relaxing on the estate and watching the boats sail by. 

The Coast Guard 7th District headquarters is located in downtown Miami, Florida. Per their official website, it is “responsible for Coast Guard activities throughout a 1.7 million square mile area including Puerto Rico, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and 34 foreign nations and territories.”
