Pinellas County

Pinellas County is located in Central West Florida bordering the Gulf of Mexico, Tampa Bay, and Pasco and Hillsborough Counties. 

Pinellas County was established in 1911 from a portion of Hillsborough County. The name is derived from Spanish "Punto Pinal", meaning "point of pines."

Pinellas County Schools was officially formed in Florida in 1912. The district is also famously known for establishing the first adult education program in Florida. This was a result of the influx of returning veterans from WWII who were seeking to complete their education. Today, Pinellas County School District is the seventh-largest district in the state of Florida and the 26th-largest district in the nation containing over 100,000 students.

Tropicana Field is home to the Tampa Bay Rays MLB team. Located in St. Petersburg, Florida, the stadium also hosts college football. This domed stadium is the only non-retractable Major League Baseball stadium and is the smallest by seating capacity.

Eckerd College is a small liberal arts college in St. Petersburg. It has a beautiful waterfront campus on the Gulf Peninsula in Tampa Bay. It is a short drive away from some of the state's most beautiful beaches.

The Eight O'Clock Theatre is a theatre in Largo, Florida. It is part of the Suncoast Performing Arts Foundation, which supports the arts in Largo and the sun coast.

Florida Orange Groves & Winery is known for making tropical, citrus, and fruit wines. They are also the only winery to be featured at Disney's Food and Wine Festival every year.

Francis Wilson Playhouse is a beautiful old theater that first opened in 1935. Each year it has a season of eight shows and musicals that each run for a few weeks.

The Gulf Beaches Public Library is a part of the Pinellas Public Library Cooperative. It has been serving the community of Madeira Beach and the surrounding areas since 1952.

The Gulfport Public Library is a library in the Pinellas County Library Cooperative located in Gulfport, Florida.

The Pinellas Park Public Library, also called the Barbara S. Ponce Public Library. Library cards are available for any residents of the Pinellas Public Library Cooperative jurisdictions.

The Pinellas Public Library Cooperative is a cooperative of 26 public libraries in Pinellas County. This includes the 7 branches of the St. Petersburg Library System, the 5 branches of the Clearwater Public Library System, and the 2 branches of the Dunedin Public Library. There is also libraries in Tarpon Springs, Seminole, St. Pete Beach, Safety Harbor, Pinellas Park, Palm Harbor, Oldsmar, Largo, Gulfport, Madeira Beach, and Palm Harbor. Most of these libraries are separate but connected and have their own websites.

Port of St. Petersburg, located on Central Florida's Gulf Coast in Tampa Bay, offers services for large yachts, as well as benefits of marine science/research facilities on port property.

The Raymond James Theatre is a theatre run by the American Stage. It was built in St. Petersburg in 2009.

Ruth Eckerd Hall is a performing arts center in Clearwater. It has a few theaters as well as rental spaces that provide a home for all kinds of performing arts and entertainment.
