Pinellas County

Pinellas County is located in Central West Florida bordering the Gulf of Mexico, Tampa Bay, and Pasco and Hillsborough Counties. 

Pinellas County was established in 1911 from a portion of Hillsborough County. The name is derived from Spanish "Punto Pinal", meaning "point of pines."

Caladesi Island State park is one of the few untouched islands along the Gulf Coast and it's only accessible by boat. Visitors can kayak through the bayside mangrove forest and walk along the beautiful shores of the beach. There's also a nature trail along the island where guests can see a multitude of animals in their natural habitats. Also on the island is the historic ruins of the Scharrer Homestead, once home to a family who lived in peace on the island. Myrtle Scharrer Betz, who lived in the home, called this place "paradise" in her memoirs. 

Located near the area of Clearwater, Fort De Soto Park is a beautiful place to take the children to play in the sand or walk the shore line with a significant other. The sands are sugary white and waters are blue, it really does make for the perfect setting for something special. The grounds are just over 1,100 acres full of natural beauty. With a wonderful beach, play area for the kids, and so much to explore, this is the perfect sunny day outing for a group of friends or a family. 

If you're looking for a peaceful escape, Honeymoon Island State Park is the place to find it. As its name suggests, it's a natural getaway with an abundance of activities and amenities to explore. Discover miles of beach and pine forests on a trail as you identify the native wildlife to the area, like horned owls and gopher tortoises. You can partake in activities like paddling, surfing, picnicking at one of their pavilions, or even hold a wedding ceremony near the playground, but the getaway's comforting nature and unforgettable sights truly make the ideal park experience.

Pinellas County Schools was officially formed in Florida in 1912. The district is also famously known for establishing the first adult education program in Florida. This was a result of the influx of returning veterans from WWII who were seeking to complete their education. Today, Pinellas County School District is the seventh-largest district in the state of Florida and the 26th-largest district in the nation containing over 100,000 students.

The Skyway Fishing Pier State Park is home to a grand bridge that spans over Tampa Bay from St. Petersburg to Sarasota providing around the clock fishing for snook, tarpon, group, black sea bass, Spanish Mackeral, and more. Famished? Nearby vendors will supply you with snacks and drinks!

Tropicana Field is home to the Tampa Bay Rays MLB team. Located in St. Petersburg, Florida, the stadium also hosts college football. This domed stadium is the only non-retractable Major League Baseball stadium and is the smallest by seating capacity. 

Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater is located in Clearwater at the St. Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport. It is the largest U.S. Coast Guard air station and is home to nearly 700 USCG aviation and support personnel. The air station’s motto, reflecting its busy pace of operations is “Anytime, Anywhere.”

Be sure to check out the bulk section to choose your own nuts and grains. There are some yummy finds here including toffee coated peanuts. 

The St. Pete Beach Public Library is part of the Pinellas Public Library Cooperative. Library cards are available to anyone residing in Pinellas County.

The St. Petersburg Library System is comprised of seven branches within St. Petersburg. It is part of the Pinellas Public Library Cooperative.

The winery is constructed to look like a 1820 federal building. This makes it one of the best tourist attractions, with select handcrafted wine.

The Tarpon Springs Public Library is a library in Tarpon Springs. It is part of the Pinellas Public Library Cooperative.

At The Florida Winery, there are over 20 varieties of wine to be tasted. They have been awarded over 50 awards in just their first four years! 

The Mahaffey Theater is a downtown St. Petersburg theater that first opened in 1965. It offers quality performances of all kinds in a location that offers easy access to many other Tampa Bay attractions.

ThinkGeek is the store to go to for all things geeky. They have memorabilia for Star Wars, Star Trek, Marvel, DC, Game of Thrones, Pokémon, Harry Potter, Fortnite, Fallout, Doctor Who, and so many other awesome names that people love. This is definitely worth the check out if you're in one of the four areas they are located in in Florida. 

At Tyrone Square you can find everything you're looking for with a multitude of shops to choose from. Eat a meal at the food court and watch a movie at the Cobb luxury theater at this location just 4 miles from the gulf coast.

The University Of South Florida St. Petersburg (USFSP) is an extension of The University of South Florida. There are over 30 bachelor's degree programs and 15 master's programs offered at USFSP. USFSP also offers great ways to get involved on campus and in the community.

The Westfield Countryside Shopping Centre is a great place to get your shopping done, but it's also so much more than that. It is home to an indoor skating rink, a Cobb 12 Theatres, and Restaurant Row, where you can grab a delicious bite.

Found in a few locations in Florida, Zeno's always seems to be near a beach. This candy store started in 1948 and has since been family owned and operated. While saltwater taffy is their specialty, they also have gourmet popcorn, homemade ice cream, fudge, brittle, and what they call seafoam which is a very light and airy caramel tasting treat.
