Hernando County

Hernando County is located in Central West Florida north of Tampa Bay bordering the Gulf of Mexico and Citrus, Sumter and Pasco Counties. 

Hernando County was named for the Spanish explorer Hernando de Soto, Hernando County was established in 1843 from pieces of Hillsborough, Mosquito, and Alachua counties. The name was changed to Benton in honor of Thomas Hart Benton in 1844, but was restored to Hernando in 1850.

Hernando County School District currently contains a student population of over 22,000 spread out across 28 different schools, including traditional schools, charter schools and alternative schools. With the introduction of the new Aerospace Technology program, more focus has been put on increasing (STEM) learning among students in the county.

Hernando County is home to many parks, sports complexes, and activities to check out. This article will focus on the Tom Varn Stadium, a slew of summer camps for kids, and the Delta Woods Park which all offer their own reasons for leaving the house.

The Hernando County Public Library has 4 branches, 3 in Brooksville, and 1 in Spring Hill. The main library is located in downtown Brooksville.

Winery that specializes in three different table wines, blueberry, strawberry, and blackberry. They make their wine fresh from the farm.

Sparacia Witherell Family Winery & Vineyards has been a family owned winery since 2016. They grow muscadine and hybrid varieties of wine grapes in the western part of Florida. 

This is a local vineyard and winery in Spring Hill, Florida. Many events are held here throughout the year including yoga classes and glass painting.
