Hobe Sound, Florida

Hobe Sound is a community south of Port St. Lucie on the Indian River. The city was designed in the 1920s to be a place where movies taking place in Greece could be shot. The houses were built in Greek style, the streets were given Greek names, and the city was renamed “Picture City”. Most of this progress was destroyed in a hurricane in 1928, so the city went back to its original name, but many of the original street names remain.
