Town of Jennings, Florida

Jennings is a small town in Hamilton County, Florida. Found in 1900, there seems to have been two men by the name of Jennings who may have contributed to the naming of this town. The two men are Robert Jennings, who settled here in 1860, and George Jennings who came to this vicinity in 1884 on a raft by way of the Alapaha River. In the days before World War I, Jennings was an important shipping point for Sea Island cotton.
