Lawtey is a city in Bradford County, Florida. The small town of Lawtey owes its existence to the dreams of 30 Chicagoans who came south to find a better life under the warm Florida sun in 1877. After the Great Depression hit, many of these Chicagoans moved back north and the city never fully recovered economically. What remains of Lawtey are late 1800’s mansions and abandoned buildings. As a result, locals consider Lawtey to be a semi-ghost town!
