Matlacha, Florida

Matlacha (pronounced mat-la-shay) is a community on the tiny island of Matlacha Pass, which is located between Pine Island and mainland Southwest Florida.

This "Old Florida" fishing village has become known for its brightly colored art galleries, island boutiques and shops, waterside seafood restaurants, and traditional Floridian cottages. The small breezy island community is mostly waterfront homes and a community park that fronts Matlacha Pass, part of the Great Calusa Blueway paddling trail. Anglers fish on what is known by locals as the "World's Fishingest Bridge".
