City of Ormond Beach, Florida

Named after sea captain James Ormond I, Ormond Beach is a beautiful, beachy escape for those who want to avoid the busier tourist areas of Florida. John D Rockefeller lived here in a hotel in 1914 and then built an estate called The Casements. Today, it is a cultural center and the communities most loved historical structure. It's also famed for some of the first timed automobile races, giving it the nickname, "The Birthplace of Speed."

The Addison Blockhouse Historic State Park is home to an historic 19th century plantation that once flourished from 1816 to 1836 until it was burned in the Seminole wars. The Addison Blockhouse lies on the west side of the Tomoka River and is one of the most worthwhile sights in Volusia County.
