City of Pahokee, Florida

In Creek Language, the city name means ‘grassy waters,’ but locals refer to it as “The Muck” for its dark and nutrient rich soil. At one time Pahokee was known as the “Winter Vegetable Capital of the World.” In 2009, a 11 year old boy named Damon Weaver interviewed President Barack Obama and asked him about how to fix the underfunded education in Pahokee. Since then, Damon has gone on to interview other famous people.
