Panama City was originally an unincorporated settlement called “Floriopolis,” later changed to “Park Resort,” then to “Harrison” before finally settling on the name is bears today. Their largest employer is the federal government, and boasts two military bases.

NSA Panama City is a U.S. Navy base located between the cities of Panama City and Panama City Beach. It is a base for several commands including the Naval Surface Warfare Center Panama City Division (NSWC PCD), the Navy Experimental Diving Unit (NEDU), and the Navy Diving Salvage and Training Center (NDSTC).
