Pensacola is the westernmost city of the Florida panhandle. It is the base of the Blue Angels flight demonstration team and the National Naval Aviation Museum. It is nicknamed "The City of Five Flags", due to the five governments that have ruled it during its history: the flags of Spain (Castile), France, Great Britain, the United States of America, and the Confederate States of America. Another name is "World's Whitest Beaches" because of the beautiful white sand along Florida’s panhandle. Others include: "Cradle of Naval Aviation", "Western Gate to the Sunshine State", "America's First Settlement", "Emerald Coast", and "P-Cola". Art and culture is extremely prominent in Pensacola, and they host multiple food festivals throughout the year as well as an international art festival and a children’s art festival. The arts community thrives with work year-round by Pensacola Opera, Pensacola Children's Chorus, Pensacola Symphony Orchestra, and the Choral Society of Pensacola, as well as Ballet Pensacola.
