City of Pompano Beach, Florida

Along the east coast of Florida is one of Florida’s best kept secrets. The name comes from the Florida pompano, a fish found off the Atlantic coast. They maintain a steady seasonal population and are ranked as one of the best places for vacation homes by the Wall Street Journal. Following the general population boom after World War II, Pompano merged with the newly formed municipality on the beach and became the City of Pompano Beach, and they celebrated their centennial in 2008.
