Port Salerno, Florida

A small settlement was created in the 1920s on the southern shores of the St. Lucie river inlet. The called it "Salerno" because the majority settlers were from the Italian city of Salerno. Like many places, it experienced a population boom following World War II and eventually changed its name to “Port Salerno” to avoid confusion with the Italian city. Port Salerno is well known for its incredible seafood and is host to the World Fishing Tournaments hosted on the yacht port.
