Sanford is known as the "Historic Waterfront Gateway City" and sits on the southern shore of Lake Monroe. The Wayne Densch Performing Arts Center was first built in Sanford in 1923 as the Milane Theater. It has since been through many restorations and renames until its final restoration was completed in 2014.
