Venice is a city in Sarasota County, Florida. Venice consists of a large section of mainland, as well as Venice Island just off the coast. Venice is best known as the “Shark’s Tooth Capital of the World” as its coastal shores contain an abundance of fossilized shark’s teeth. To celebrate this title, the City of Venice hosts the Shark’s Tooth Festival every year. Many of the city’s snowbirds, Venice contains a large snowbird population, take part in the festivities.
