Village of Virginia Gardens, Florida

Virginia Gardens is a village just outside of Miami Springs bordering the Miami International Airport. It was once a part of Miami Springs until the city announced in 1947 that residents would no longer be allowed to own horses. A small group of residents banded together and formed their own community so that they could all keep their horses. That community became Virginia Gardens. Today, the large estates filled with horses are gone and Virginia Gardens is filled with tight-packed neighborhoods.
