Jellyfish in Florida

Identifying these phenomenal creatures

Jellyfish are found in all of the world’s oceans, from the surface to the deep sea. They are often transparent or translucent, and range in color from white to red or blue. Jellyfish come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes. Some are very small, only a few centimeters in diameter. Most jellyfish spend their lives drifting in the ocean currents. Jellyfish are carnivores, and their diet consists mostly of small fish, crustaceans, and other marine animals. They use their tentacles to capture prey, which they then bring to their mouths to eat. These tentacles have stinging cells with may be quite venomous in some jellyfish.
