Pumpkin Mickeys take over the Magic Kingdom every year!

Special Effects

A few of the rides are special for Halloween this year! I made sure to do those as soon as we got there so I could spend the rest of my night watching shows and meeting characters. It was also raining at the beginning of the party, so this was a great way to keep dry! Space Mountain was my favorite of the special rides and they are all marked on the Halloween map. It is a great way to kick start the party and get you in the Halloween mood.

The Best View

There is plenty of entertainment at one of Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Parties. You have the nightly Halloween parade, the Sanderson sisters’ fun party hosting the villains, and a special firework display surrounding Magic Kingdom. So, how do you make sure you get the best seats in the house? I recommend skipping the first few parades and shows and waiting for the fireworks. This allows you to grab some candy, meet some rare friends, and find the perfect spot for the last few shows. Right in front of the castle stage is the best place to watch the fireworks which start at 10:15. Then you can stay right where you are to watch the amazing castle show and have a great view. After the show just turn around and grab a spot right at the sidewalk curb. If you hang out there you will get a front row view of the parade which is worth it.

Meet and Greets

During the Halloween party some of our rare friends come out to play and our other friends like to get dressed up for the occasion. Take advantage of these rare appearances and if you have an autograph book, do not forget to bring it. I don’t want to give away all of the surprises but let’s just say that one character may have your head rolling when you meet her by the tea cups. Also, Winnie the Pooh brings along some extra friends on their trick-or-treating adventure and their costumes are the cutest.

Best Dressed

Adults usually cannot wear costumes to the parks during the year, but during Mickey’s Not So Scary, everyone can dress up! So take advantage and go all out for one night. I have seen some of the most realistic costumes roaming the park and it is wonderful. You won’t be out of place if you decide to wear a costume and you will be amazed at how many people dress up for the event. If you don’t have time to get a costume don’t worry, there is plenty of Halloween merchandise there to get you in the spirit. I loved this year’s Hocus Pocus inspired spirit jersey and of course the Oogie Boogie popcorn bucket was the cherry on top. There are plenty of items to get you in the spooky spirit this year.

Spooky Snacks

The Halloween inspired snacks were better than ever this year. There are sweets, savory, and down right sugar explosions to choose from and each are inspired by one of our favorite friends. You can grab a Jack Skellington cake pop or Maleficent ice cream. You can even have a nice dinner with Hades Nachos and a Muenster Smash Burger. Each snack has its own unique taste and style and they make for cute Instagram pictures. I think my favorite this year was the pumpkin cheesecake from the Main Street Bakery. It really made the middle of August feel like fall.

Trick-or-Treat?

The best thing about Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party is the copious amount of candy you can get. There are treat stops throughout Magic Kingdom offering everything from apple sauce to chocolate bars. The best thing about them? You can go through them as many times as you want! I would recommend getting your candy towards the end of the night since the lines will be shorter and you won’t have to carry your heavy bags around all night. Most people tend to catch the last show or leave early since they have little ones, so take advantage of the smaller lines and go through each one a couple of times.

Above all else just have fun at Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party! It is a great way to spend Halloween without the spooks and scares. Plus, the candy will keep you satisfied for weeks. So dress up, buy a ticket, and lets get the party started!
