Indian River County

Indian River County is located in Central East Florida bordering the Atlantic Ocean and Brevard, Osceola, Okeechobee and St. Lucie Counties. 

Indian River County was established in 1925 from a portion of St. Lucie County and named for the Indian River.

Indian River School District is established in Vero Beach, Florida. The school district presides over 25 plus schools. The Indian River Public Schools boasts an International Baccalaureate program available in elementary, middle and high school. The district’s public schools are also recognized for their award winning Performing Arts Programs, which set this district apart from many others in the state of Florida.

The St. Sebastian River Preserve State Park in Fellsmere is a great spot to go kayaking. You can even bring your pets! Some of the amenities on site include a boat ramp, canoe kayak launch, equestrian trails, and a visitor center.

Indian River Behavioral Health Center was established in 1932 with only 21 beds. In the course of 86 years, they have managed to grow and turn into a 332-bed, not-for-profit medical center.

The Indian River County Library System has four branches, three in Vero Beach and one in Sebastian. The main branch is in Vero Beach and has a Law Library in the second floor.

Indian River County can provide you with a variety of facilities to get together with people in your community, exercise, and learn more about the place you call home. Facilities like the Gifford Aquatic Center make staying cool a little easier and a lot more fun. The Intergenerational Center provides a cool and covered venue to take part in all sorts of activities (Tai Chi anyone). Indian River State College's main campus is located in Fort Pierce, but it also has campuses in Stuart, Okeechobee, Port St Lucie, and Vero Beach. It offers over one hundred programs with two and four year degree options, as well as technical certificates, applied technology diplomas, and career training programs. There are opportunities in study abroad, honors, and visual and performing arts that enrich IRSC's learning experience.

The Riverside Theatre is a theatre in Vero Beach. It hosts comedy shows, concerts, broadway shows and a popular lecture series.

Founded upon the Episcopal tradition, the focus is on the whole child, led by a strong faculty who work to help all students reach their full potential in the classroom and beyond.

Special education center school serving students ages 5-22.  To meet the unique needs of our students, we offer four program models: intensive, integrated, behavioral and a transition program.  Our dedicated staff provides instruction that positively impacts student achievement, communication skills, social, emotional and behavioral growth.  

Walking Tree is a brewing company out of Vero Beach that derives its name from the mangrove trees that grow wildly throughout the state. The mangrove is a shrub that grows along the coastline, partially submerged in the sea and the name Walking Tree is a nod to maintaining that Florida personality, with one foot always in the ocean.
