Manatee County is located in Central West Florida Region & Sarasota – Bradenton – North Port, Florida Metro Area bordering the Gulf of Mexico and Hillsborough, Hardee, DeSoto and Sarasota Counties. Manatee County features 150 miles of pristine shoreline boasting some of the most beautiful beaches in the world.
Established in 1855 from portions of Hillsborough and Mosquito Counties, Manatee County was named after the gentle sea cow, “Manatee”, which was seen frequently in the area’s waterways.
