City of Marco Island, Florida

Marco Island is a barrier island just off the coast of southwest Florida in the Gulf of Mexico. It was named Marco by Spanish explorers who first arrived here in the 1500s after St. Mark, San Marco in Spanish. This island is a popular destination for tourists interested in beautiful beachfront accommodations and watersports of all kinds. About 16,000 residents live here permanently.
