Per the weather in Florida being 90 plus degrees, I think we’re all just trying to find the best ways to keep cool. You could get some ice cream, take a dip in the pool, or have an ice, cold beer. With the rise of brewing companies, it’ll be pretty easy to find a variety of craft beers to try. On the other hand, with such a large number of breweries in the central Florida area, it can be overwhelming to decide on which to visit. That’s why we mustered up the best breweries to visit in central Florida.
DLBC doesn’t just have a cool name, they also have awesome craft beers. Richard Dine, head brewer and co-owner, has over 25 years of experience brewing craft beers and has created a number of them ranging in flavors and styles. The love for brewing is so prevalent that Richard Dine and his wife Patricia “Storm” Dine, co-owner, started running their very own Artesian family farm where they grow the hops for the beer they brew. DLBC encourages creativity and uniqueness in their tap room. In fact, you can find art from local artist and create chalk art on the tables, floors, and walls during your visit there!
Kevin Wigen and Bobby Bowen are friends and former bandmates that decided to start a brewing company in central Florida called Bowigens Beer Company: a place where they take pride in the product they create. Bowen explains how he refuses to brew anything that doesn’t bring him excitement. This means that they have equally delicious and unique recipes for their craft beers – like using 200 lbs. of tomatoes for a beer. The staff is highly trained, helpful, and welcoming, which is great because it adds that much more to the experience.
Broken Strings Brewery is actually one of two breweries that function under the same roof – Broken Cauldron Brewery. Long story short, Charles Frizzell of Broken Strings and Jeanna Malines of Black Cauldron decided to join forces and work under the same roof to create an epic brewery where you can get a one-of-a-kind experience. Broken Strings works around their music theme to add a little fun to the craft beer experience. Located a few blocks away from one of Central Florida’s most popular stadium, the Camping World Stadium, they are in the perfect location for before and after games to!
If you’re looking for more than just great craft beers, try Ocean Sun Brewing. They have yoga, trivia nights, live music, and of course craft beers! They brew their beer in-house, adding to that homestyle feeling. The family-friendly location is excellent to enjoy a family day, and you can even bring Toodles along because they are pet friendly!
Grove Roots is the epidemy of doing what you love. Joe Dunham, owner, had such a passion for crafting beers that he quit his construction management job to open the brewery and hasn’t looked back since! Claiming to be one of central Florida’s first breweries, they have paved the path for other brewing companies and have still maintained the high-quality craft beers that have customers coming back.
Hard word pays off and Hourglass Brewing was born from this mentality. Two friends funded the company by selling toy collections, music equipment, and the support from their families. With a taproom large enough to fit over 200 people, a barrel aging program, and their very own Sourglass brewing (a twist on sour and wild ales), Hourglass Brewing offers craft beers that can only be found in central Florida.
