Florida’s Space Coast is well known and appropriately named as it is home to the Kennedy Space Center and Cape Canaveral Air Force Station and is the location where many launches take place. The area code for the county was established in 1999 in honor of the countdown, “3,2,1”. The region includes the stretch along the Atlantic coast in Brevard County. It is geographically located directly east of the major central Florida attractions making it an easy day trip for tourists from Walt Disney World and Universal Resorts. And it is worth a visit.
This area of the Florida coast line includes some of Florida’s most natural and unspoiled habitats including Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge and Canaveral National Seashore as well as public beaches and recreation areas that includes Cocoa Beach, Cape Canaveral, Merritt Island, Sebastian Inlet, Satellite Beach, Indialantic and Melbourne Beach.
