Broward County

Broward County is located in Southeast Florida bordering the Atlantic Ocean and Palm Beach, Dade, Hendry and Collier Counties.

Broward County was established in 1915 from a portion of Dade County and named for Napoleon B. Broward, governor from 1905 to 1909 and a principal proponent of early efforts to drain the Everglades.

The BB&T Center is an indoor arena located in Sunrise (Fort Lauderdale Metro area), Florida. Home of the Florida Panthers NHL team, the arena also hosts basketball, arena football and concerts. 

Headquartered in Fort Lauderdale, Broward County Schools serve nearly 260,000 students in more than 300 school and education centers making it the sixth largest school district in the United States and the second largest in Florida. Broward County Public Schools proudly offers 70 magnet programs at schools across the District. Eleven of the District’s magnet programs have recently been redesigned, offering students more opportunities for special instruction and programs not available anywhere else.

The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale is one the Art Institutes, a system of schools that specialize in design, fashion, culinary arts, and media and visual arts. It helps students foster their creativity while preparing for their future careers.

The Braille and Talking Book Library is a library dedicated to providing reading materials to blind and visually impaired residents. Its headquarters is located in Daytona and it has nine subregional locations in Coca, Ft. Myers, Ft. Lauderdale, Jacksonville, Clearwater, Miami, Orlando, Pensacola, and Lake Worth to serve residents throughout the state.

The Broward Center for the Performing Arts is a large performing arts venue in Fort Lauderdale. It houses a few theaters, the largest of which seats nearly 3,000 people. 

The Broward County Library system has 39 branches. Fort Lauderdale has 9 branches including the main branch, The Nova Southeastern University branch, the Bienes Museum of the Modern Book, and the African-American Research Library. There are 4 branches in Pompano Beach, 2 in Deerfield Beach, 2 in Davie, 3 in Hollywood, 2 in Lauderhill, 3 in Pembroke Pines, and one each in West Park, Dania Beach, Hallandale Beach, Hallandale, Margate, Miramar, North Lauderdale, Coconut Creek, Coral Springs, Sunrise, Tamarac, Plantation, Lauderdale Lakes, and Weston.

Christ Church School serves as an outreach ministry of Christ Church emphasizing academic excellence and nurturing the spiritual, physical, cultural and social development of students in a compassionate, disciplined Christian environment.

City College is a Florida college with locations in Altamonte Springs, Fort Lauderdale, Gainesville, Hollywood, and Miami. It offers associates and bachelors degrees in the fields of business, heath, and legal/justice.

The City of Parkland Library is a public library in Parkland, Florida. Library cards are available for free for Parkland residents and students, teachers, and business owners of the city.

Coral Springs Center for the Arts is a theater that focuses on bringing arts of all kinds to people throughout the community. It has a theater for the performing arts as well as gallery spaces for the visual arts.

Christ-centered excellence in faith, academics, character, excellence, and service, this is Coral Springs Christian Academy. We offer a PreK-12 biblically integrated, Christ-centered college preparatory curriculum in the greater Fort Lauderdale area.

A very active Support Group for Homeschoolers in Broward County. 

Welcome to the home page for the Broward Homeschool Teens-N-Tweens group. We are an inclusive group. This group is designed to meet the needs of our Tween, age 10-12 and Teen, 13+ homeschool children. We have classes, and events especially for this age group. 

...is a Christ centered organization, established in September 1999 in Southwest Broward County.  H.E.A.R.T.S. was formed to bring Homeschooling families together in order to support, educate, and encourage them in their efforts to educate their children at home. To achieve these goals, the group meets monthly to pray for and encourage one another, share methods, curriculum, ideas, and to plan group events, field trips and classes.

Homeschooling South Florida is a Yahoo Group designed for homeschooling kids (and their moms/dads) from the Palm Beaches, Broward County, and Dade County. Members on this board are open to discuss homeschooling issues such as curriculum selection, unschooling, the pros and cons (when mom/dad becomes overwhelmed), offer advice to new homeschoolers and share articles found concerning homeschooling issues.

We are a nonreligious community of naturally-minded families who are actively homeschooling young children in and around Weston. Although we may use different schooling methods, we are all interested in creating a peaceful, respectful environment to nurture our children's development and are committed to positive discipline.

We are an active, inclusive and social support group for homeschooling mothers of school-age children. All members are encouraged to plan and participate in many fun and enriching activities including playdates, field trips, study sessions and more. We strive to have fun while we educate our children and make friends for ourselves.
